I was born in
1957 in Cologne (Germany)
From
1978 to 83 I studied at the former College for Art & Design. I started the
technical course Graphic Design (Gottfried Wiegand & Hans Buschfeld); after two semesters I changed over to Free Art,
taking classes with Daniel Spoerri, Stefan Wewerka, & later with the illustrator Marianne
Kolscheen-Richter. At that time my work centered on book illustrations, cartoons &
comics from political/satirical to surreal. I discovered the American illustrator Saul
Steinberg, & the German illustrators Heinz Edelmann, Alfred Kubin & Horst Janssen.
During my studies I worked, amongst other jobs, as an illustrator at a small publishing
house in Dusseldorf, & at the former Cologne city newspaper "Schauplatz", following a
short stint with an advertising agency in Cologne. Outside my jobs & studies, the
fantastic & poetic oeuvre of the Parisian surrealists quickly aroused my visceral
interest, strongly influencing my creativity - even more so after I finished my studies.
Max Ernst & Hans Bellmer, two German artists, shaped my artistic outlook, & continue
to do so - with limitations - even today.
In 1998 the group "Antlogonis" was founded. I am one of the co-founder. With & without
"Antlogonis" I have taken part in a series of group exhibitions. In
April/May 1999 most recently in Liège, Belgium; in
November 2000 at the Salons of Hürth, outside Cologne; & in
December 2000 at a double-exhibition with Bernd Straub-Molitor at the gallery
"Kunstgewinn" in Cologne.
March 2002 at a double-exhibition again with Bernd Straub-Molitor at the "KÖLNGALERIE" in Cologne,
December 2006 "Surrealistic Art Lab", Wien |

Since
July 2000 my work is hanging at the "KÖLNGALERIE" of C. Siebrasse & R.
Schenk in Cologne.
My individual exhibitions include, amongst others:
1986 at Gallery "Poettgen", in Düsseldorf, in
1994 at Gallery "U99", in Mönchengladbach, & in
1995 at the Max Planck Institute, in Tübingen.
My favorite media are collage, watercolors, gouache, drawing, & even, occasionally photographs.
I work in two & three dimensions, making assemblages & other objects. Presently I'm
experimenting with digital imaging, a new & important tool opening up exciting possibilities. |
